Dry Messy Play

I've been trying to integrate messy play with Tommy.  He wants nothing to do with it, he either runs the other way or makes a crinkled up face and says "ick."  We've had success with rice, so I thought we'd try something new.  I received a package in the mail with some of those styrofoam packing peanuts; so I tried to get him to just touch one and he wouldn't then I put a couple on the toy he wanted and he changed his mind about the toy. ;)  Long story short I gave up on those for awhile.  Today we tried shredded paper.  He touched it and that's about all.  Later today, I brought out some wrappers from these bars the boys eat for breakfast (we've been collecting them to recycle) I dumped them out on the floor to condense and he was all into it.  Maybe it was the colors or texture or familiarness of the wrappers but it kept him intrigued.  I'd say it was a form of messy play, they were defiantly not in any order scattered on the floor!

Pumpkin Patch #1

Our first pumpkin patch this year was sparked by my neighbor/friend Kristin.  I was a nice day so she said lets go to the pumpkin patch afterschool today. OK!  We went to the Flower Farmer in Canby.  They have a train ride to a hay tower.  I thought it was over priced but maybe the train is expensive to operate.  We didn't buy a pumpkin, we'll get them with daddy when we go with him.  Owen had fun running around, up and down, and through the hay tower with his friends Anson, Westin, and Gavin.  Tommy had fun touching every pumpkin.  I had fun trying to take pictures of the crazy/busy boys.  Here are some pictures I was able to capture.

Race for the Cure

In September, I had the honor and pleasure of walking in the race for the cure on Tonya's team.  There were a bunch of family and friends to walk in support of Tonya.  Tonya's team raised over $2,000!

Sesame Street

We love Sesame Street specifically Elmo.  The new season is coming up and here are some songs in store.  I wonder if there is a cd with all these songs?

First Day of School

Owen started first grade on Thursday, September 9th.  He started with half of his class, the whole class was there on Friday, September 10th.  He was excited at least I think he was, he was a bit quiet.  He wouldn't let me take many pictures but here is what I have.  I didn't get a goodbye kiss or hug, just a wave from across the room.

Let's try this

Okay I'm going to try again.  Not like I'll have many readers but I'm doing it for my kids.  Oh whatever, they are boys they'll never read it!  So I guess I'm doing it for my mom, myself, and my son's future wives (?).  So day one we are practicing going back to school including getting up on time and eating at the right time vs. grazing all day.  Tomorrow is our last practice day.
